Unlocking Your Creative Potential Through Marketing!

My name is Mia, an 18-year-old Digital Marketing Apprentice for Sixothree Marketing. When I first joined Sixothree I was so excited, I was THE person they wanted to hire out of everyone! I knew Marketing was something that I wanted to do and as a creative girl like me I was so ready to take my artsy skills to the next level with The Juice Academy Content Creator Programme!

I have always loved art, ever since I was little it has consumed my life in every way possible. Whether that be doodles or paintings it didn’t matter, it was always the easiest way for me to express my feelings. Art is a form of communication through images and colour, it doesn’t have to make sense to everyone, it brought me joy and was a way of escaping reality during my early teenage years. However, with society constantly changing, so did my attitude towards creativity.

This is where I found my love for social media and graphic design. Before I knew it, I took my art gcse to college with me where I studied graphic communications. This was super different for me as I didn’t have the privilege of growing up with computers, and being a computer-based subject I did have a hard time adjusting. I used to look around the room at my classmates work and sometimes did question whether I chose the right path, as I did not carry as many computer-based skills as I would have liked. However, after some extra classes and late evenings, I did eventually fall in love with it. From creating logos, cartoon characters and book covers, I am happy to say I really did excel in this field. But… this did get me wondering “Where can this be used? There must be something, right?” So, I started looking online at the different creative career paths, this is where I came across apprenticeships.

Initially, I did question the idea as I felt like I hadn’t had much experience based on the job’s requirements. After researching into the idea, I realised that this would be a fantastic way for me to kickstart my career in marketing. While I have the creativity and writing skills from both college and high-school, I realised that it’s not just my skills that is going to get my foot in the door, but also my willingness and ambition to learn! This is when things started to get interesting…

I stumbled across The Juice Academy, the UK’s first industry-led social media apprenticeship provider. So, after some research, I decided to give it a shot and apply! I packed up my portfolio and attended The Juice Academy bootcamp day based in Deansgate, Manchester. When I secured my position with The Juice Academy as a content creator apprentice, I was nervous that I would be the only person my age in the Cohort. I was the youngest, however that didn’t stop me from making so many new friends so quickly! I have learnt so much from The Juice Academy, the people are amazing, the environment is amazing, and their way of teaching is top tier!

So, if you’re like me and reluctant about stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new, this is your sign to JUST DO IT! You never know what opportunities may come your way!
